The embedded marketplace has gone through quite a transition in the last 5 years – it is shrinking. Companies have disappeared, many struggle and loose money, some remain hopeful that eventually they will be successful, and a few others are doing very well.

There are some ‘constants’ in the universe of embedded systems that can be measured in the midst of this turbulence.

1. New product development is extremely risky -- no one can predict whether the market will accept a new product at a price-point yielding some profit.
2. Product development is very expensive in the United States and in Europe.
3. Larger companies are moving their engineering R&D activities and manufacturing operations to low-cost centers. Asia figures prominently in this strategy as cell phones are now being designed, manufactured and shipped for export out of Asia.
4. Aequus personnel have worked in the embedded industry for well over 15 years, and have been doing business in Asia, Europe and the US for over five years. We know this market space very well. We understand the Asian culture, mindset and capability from first-hand experience. We have worked there and are engaged on a daily basis.

Aequus Research Inc. was founded in 2001 to provide engineering services, and to develop experimental products using inexpensive radio hardware (rfPIC family) and client-server wireless solutions. Because of its Asian embedded engineering relationships, Aequus Research has evolved into a company that now provides the same outsourcing capability but is now focused on medical systems.  From thermometers to computer based servers, we can build the communications links that will render medical devices with the ability to "talk". 

Our technical focus remains fixed on only a few technologies because we have experience in them and do them well.
